Evaluation
1. What do you think you learnt from Monday's workshop? You could discuss anything you like - technical, performance, production process, directing, the various roles, specific skills - anything you think is relevant.
During monday's workshop, I worked as a "cable-basher" for the lighting team all morning and was able to observe a professional crew at work. This gave me a fascinating insight into the technical side of making a convincing music video and gave me experience which I am sure will prove invaluable next year when i attempt to shoot my own video.
I also learnt what is required from the cast, as I spent the afternoon in role as a dancer. I learned that sometimes shots are required from lots of different angles in order to aid the editing process and I learned the importance of staying perfectly framed during dance routines. This will I am sure help me communicate what I want to my actors next year and understand their point of view.
2. For you, what was the best bit of the day and why?
For me, the best part of the day was the gym scene, as everyone was involved and there was a high level of energy from both cast and crew. I also think these shots came out the best after we captured the footage.
3. Are you pleased with your edit? Is it how you expected it to look? Identify the successes and failures of your edited version. In hindsight, what would you do differently at the production stage?
I believe the edit is roughly good, however we are missing some vital footage to fill in some gaps. This may be because suitable footage was never filmed, or because we cannot find it. However, I believe the cuts are generally successful and we were able to copy the video with some degree of success. We were also a bit limited time-wise, as we had two other videos to edit before I go away on the music tour tomorrow.
4. Have the lip sync tasks benefitted you in any way?
Yes, very much, as they have provided us with lots of editing experience and I feel I have become a lot more efficient and comfortable with editing during the process. They have also been really fun to film! The second one in particular was good as it gave us an opportunity to be creative within the task and choose our own song.
5. How do you think the work you have completed for the preliminary tasks will impact on your real music video project?
If I perform in my own video, then the lip-syncing practice I got will be incredibly useful, as I learnt a lot about how to lip-sync convincingly and my video will look a lot better for it. I also became a lot more comfortable with editing to a deadline and that will help me I'm sure. I also learnt useful professional lighting and camera techniques which I look forward to deploying in my next task. I just became much more confident and adept in the making of music videos.

Music video I like
Late of the Pier - Heartbeat
I love this video as it uses loads of awesome editing techniques. eg. the man falls through the walls and the floor and there is also a very cool trick where they all appear to be standing on one another's shoulders.
Inital Thoughts
We've started our music video project and have been busy learning dance routines and planning the shoot. I can't wait to work with the experienced director we have with us and the project looks awesome so far. I just hope I don't fail at the dancing side of things! Anyway,I'll update this when theres more to report.
